Oh hey there, friend. Thanks for coming back to the blog…it’s been…a bit…
I am so sorry about that. And I’m glad I finally found the capacity to return to this space!
I figured I’d kick things off with a bit of an update before I jump into catching up on all the client features I missed out on posting. Read on to see what’s new with The Momentum Studio and what’s coming my way soon!

I’m solidly in the “start with the negative, end with the positive” camp. So I’ll kick things off by explaining why I disappeared from blogging many moons ago.
The monster known as imposter syndrome reared it’s ugly head. HARD.
Last spring I had a backlog of blogs because I found myself on sessions with clients every single week (I learned my lesson and now I’m limited how many VIP sessions I do every month because that was too much, but I digress…). In the midst of that photoshoot marathon, I had a client who wasn’t happy with their photos. It absolutely crushed me.
After that, I couldn’t bring myself to share my photography work aside from social media sneak peeks.
But now that time has passed and I worked through some of this with a lovely therapist, I’m ready to hop back in and I can’t wait to highlight some of these amazing businesses from my favorite lil town. Get ready for a lot of client features heading your way soon!
The other “messy” stuff–well that’s just life as a military spouse. After my whirlwind spring of back-to-back sessions, we packed up everything from our home in Indiana and roadtripped to Connecticut.
Fun fact: it was hard as hell. The stress of the move, living in a hotel for 3 weeks, and trying to stay positive so the kids wouldn’t be a hot mess nearly killed me (only slightly hyperbolic…turns out my life-long heat intolerance, inability to stand still for any period of time, and extreme fatigue are actually POTS, which can be made worse by stress…).
So that’s the other reason I’ve been a bit MIA. My limited bandwidth was focused on my coaching clients, which meant that things like the blog and social media fell to the wayside.

All that to say, a lot of wonderful things happened for me and my family. Our roadtrip to Connecticut was full of new adventures for the kids. I think they both liked riding the Maid of the Mist and camping along on Lake Ontario best. We also got to spend a good bit of quality time with both sets of their grandparents this summer (which was soooooo much better than staying in the hotel for an extra 2 weeks).
My last few months in Indiana were so incredible thanks to my wonderful group of creative business owners. We all not only worked together and traded services, but we also had regular meet ups that filled my cup so very much. I miss them terribly, but I love seeing how they have all banded together and continue to support each other as friends and small business owners.
Now that we are finally settled in our temporary home in Connecticut, we are finding a new normal. Jude is in Kindergarten and playing a million sports, Eli is at preschool, and Kyle is at work full-time (having him be a grad student for the last two years was so weird lol…). Once I got the house unpacked and everyone out of my way, I was finally able to catch my breath and now I’m back to work!

So so so many things! First and foremost, I’m not currently offering brand photography services unless someone finds me organically and can work on my timeline. Since we aren’t here very long, it didn’t feel worth it to go through all the changes I’d need to make to market my photography business here.
My main focus right now is serving my coaching clients well. Being a creative entrepreneur is so challenging, and often terribly isolating. My coaching helps you bridge the gap between your desire for creative freedom and the need to maintain a profitable business, while also providing a human connection that is missing from so many aspects of our lives. There is a chaotic dissonance to creative entrepreneurship that I love helping others navigate. If you’re curious to know more, you can check out my coaching page or hop on a Catalyst Call with me!
If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed me tagging Kristy Black Creative and talking about Brand Camp a lot. I’ve been following Kristy for a couple years now and knew I wanted to do Brand Camp, but every time it was offered, I was swamped with sessions and editing. So when Kristy reached out about this round of Brand Camp, I didn’t even hesitate to say yes. It has been the perfect way to fill this “down time” in my business. We are only in week three of Camp and I’m already thinking about my business so differently!
Soon I’ll be launching a monthly email newsletter, but I want to wait until we get Kyle’s official orders so I can kick things off with a bang (because if they stick with the verbal orders he received, its such a good announcement). If you want to make sure you’re the first to know, you can join my email community here.
That’s all for now, but I’ll return soon with all the client feature posts from this past spring!
